Puzzle Tips & Strategies
Sharpen your match-3 instincts with proven techniques used by top performers in the Royal Arena.
Clearing boards in Royal Match is as much about foresight as it is about speed. The following strategies will help you approach difficult levels with confidence and make the most of every move.
Scan Before You Swipe
Take two seconds at the start of each level to identify the level objective and scan for existing special pieces. A rocket already on the board is worth building combos around rather than creating a new match elsewhere.
Prioritize Bottom Rows
Matches at the bottom of the grid cause cascading falls from above, often triggering chain reactions. Working upward from the base layer generates more automatic matches than clearing isolated tiles at the top.
Combine Special Pieces
Pairing a rocket with a rainbow orb, or merging two TNT barrels, produces devastating board-wide effects. Always look for opportunities to merge specials before spending them individually.
Manage Your Move Count
On levels with limited moves, avoid creating matches that do not advance the objective. If you need to clear jelly tiles in the corners, plan a path to those areas early rather than wasting moves in the center.
Save Boosters for Pinch Points
Pre-level boosters are valuable resources. Deploy them on boards where the objective is tightly gated — such as levels with chained locks or multi-layered stone blocks — rather than on straightforward stages.
Learn Obstacle Patterns
Certain obstacles repeat across level clusters. Honey blocks, ice layers and chained tiles each respond best to specific special pieces. Recognizing these patterns saves moves on future boards with similar layouts.
Event-Level Efficiency
During competitive events, replay levels you have already mastered rather than pushing into untested difficult boards. Consistent clears accumulate more event points than risky attempts on harder stages.
